New pup suggestions for my HB Jagmaster II
« on: November 07, 2007, 05:44:33 AM »
I have a Squier Jagmaster II that I'd like to beef up with some new pups.

I love the neck, the short scale, and the body on this guitar.  I hated the trem, so I blocked it off with a piece of hardwood.  Maybe someday I'll fill in the trem cavity and load up with a BadAss or TuneOMatic bridge.

I'm using the stock Duncan Designed HB's, but since I like the rest of the guitar so much, I'm interested in a pup upgrade before I drop some serious coin on a high-end guitar like a Gibson SG or a Malcolm Young Gretsch.

What pickups should I consider if I want a crunchy AC/DC tone mixed in with some blues & Nirvana grunge?  I'll be playing through a TT and a 1x12 cab.

I think you can't go wrong with  Mules. It's a classic PAF tone so it will do AC/DC and blues. Kurt Cobain also used PAF style pickups in most of his guitars.

You could also try Riff Raff sbut I think your guitar will benefit from the mid range hump of the Mules.
