Classic tracks with a Les Paul
« on: November 10, 2007, 12:00:22 PM »
So, now that i've got my Les Paul, i'd like to learn some classic tracks that just scream 'les paul'. The problem is, due to my metalheadedness (i'm pretty sure that's in the dictionary), my knowledge of classic rock tracks is, well, abysmal. So if i could have some suggestions of good tracks to learn, that'd be great.

Cheers guys :)

led zeppelin
guns 'n' roses
king crimson
les paul
spinal tap
peter green's fleetwood mac
cream
john mayall's bluesbreakers often had them...
whitesnake
david gilmor (spelling?) used one for 'the wall pts 1-3.
joe perry
jeff beck (judging by the cover for 'blow by blow')
yes

apart from that I can't think of groups that use lps specifically
I too use chicken as a measurement.

shite; forgot about them...
Thin lizzy really got into Dean guitars for a good while though.
Yngwie Malmesteen is apparently a bit of a closet LP enthusiast (used mainly for studio rhythm tracks.
I've seen Steve Hackett playing with a LP with a FR... nasty
Zakk Wylde (even if he does use EMGs he is still more of a LP-style player than your traditional thrasher)
Carlos Santana (owned an SG back when they were called LPs so that counts and anyway PRSs are all based on the LP anyway)
I too use chicken as a measurement.

don't think gary moore's been mentioned yet- i'll go with that.

The other suggestions were very good too, of course. :)

The Gary Moore music i enjoy the most is not the songs he recorded with a Les Paul.

Thanks for posting this, as Whilst attempting to disprove it, I found this intriguing net nugget

Incredibly, they had a gig as recently as August and have another in december.
there truly is hope for us all.
