wiring for one pickup
« on: August 09, 2005, 03:00:15 PM »
Hey, my friend recently installed a new pickup into his guitar. What he has done is just installed the bridge pickup and has left the neck pickup with nothing in it. At the moment he has the pickup selector out of the wiring. Is there any way that he can wire it so that the pickup in the bridge is turned on in one position of the pickup selector but have on all other places have no sound?

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, just wire the bridge pup to the switch, as well as the output jack, but not the other pups. That will kill the sound in any position but the bridge. If it's a 5-way switch, positions 4-5 will both have sound (middle-bridge and bridge).
