Tube amp books?
« on: November 12, 2007, 01:41:08 PM »
This whole deal with changing power tubes, bringng my amps to techs and things going pear shaped has got me thinking.

I would like to know how to service, repair and bias tube amps. It will save me time and money, it will give me a chance to experiment a bit more with different tubes. There aren't many people who can do it so I could make a couple of bucks on the side taking care of other people's amps.

Does anyone know a good book about servicing, reapairing and biasing tube amps? I'm pretty much a dummy when it comes to amp tech stuff.

I've posted on this elsewhere. All the info you need is in the tech pages on Randall Aikens web-site:

www.aikenamps.com

There is also some good info at:

www.geofex.com

All the books on valve amps assume a basic knowledge of electronics, so if you don't know your capacitor from your inductor you might want to get an introductory book on electronics.
