Recommend some BKP for a Wolfie, Please.
« on: August 09, 2005, 09:31:30 PM »
First of all, hi to everyone

Bedroom noodler for about three years, love it, spent loads of money, but what the hell, im enjoying it.

Well heres the problem that I hope someone can help with.

I try to play a Peavey Wolfgand standard ( USA ) through a Matamp C7 Deluxe, the problem I'm experiencing id that I find the bridge PU far to Muddey / Bassy, Im told its a 17k PU, which I think is pretty hot and the neck is 12K.

Id prefer to change the set if thats the way to go.

What Im looking for is something a bit more cleaner, but sounds really sweet when driven, Im no expert, am I barking up the wrong tree ?.

The stock PUP's are direct mounted, 2 wire, with 2 joined together.

Will BKP fit straight in ?

Should I buy a LP.

You're opinions would be most welcome.

Phil

Matamp C7 good choice....

I use my PRS CE24 (mapltop one) with VHIIs when doing the R&D with Matamp, the C7 is actually voiced with them!

I'd say get what HJM uses in his PRS (I'm jealous, I want one of those), especially if the Matamp is voiced around that guitar...(which reminds me, I still need to check those bad boys out).

Gotta go with that
If the amp is voiced using the VH2s then they will sound best

And what could be better for an EVH guitar- VH2s!!

They (1224) were voiced originally with the HFS/Vintage Bass set, then tweaked with a Black Dog/Stormy monday set!

Cheers guys

Will the VHII just drop straight in, or will I have to mod something?

Regards

That I'm not 100% sure, best to measure up and check with BKP. BKP 'buckers are vintage standard size, some guitars have smaller holes!

Phil doesn't need a pickup now, he traded his guitar for a Tyler Custom Classic, it's a beauty !!

They're made in the UK, if I remember rightly they were canny big years ago and have started making stuff again.
Basically they'll make you whatever you want, any tones, any colour etc. I still haven't heard Phils amp but he had a few issues with it but it turns out it was the Peavey Wolfgang as his Tyler sounds great through it he says.
