Hah I see what you're saying completely...

but I was referring 100% to that one statement only;

"the top 3 or 4 english teams are pretty good, and could stand up against almost any other team in the world"

Those Premiership teams are better than "pretty good" if they can compete with the very best in the world.... see what I mean?

Just a minor point.

Anyway no worries... I know you're not riled up about it, nor am I. I know exactly what you mean how we basically rate ourselves too high. On the other hand, I think you're rating us a bit TOO low.  :lol: :wink:

yeah, chelsea, arsenal, man u and probably liverpool too are good teams, no doubt (EDIT: by "any other team", i meant other club teams. :))

just the best english players are only having to play against that quality of opposition 4 or 5 times a season (in the premiership)... granted they have to play in europe too.

Eh, I dunno... you should be qualifying. but you aren't... something's wrong.

:)

Ha yeah your right.

And yup we should be qualifying.

We're not as good as we think we are, but our players are definitely good enough to be doing better than they are... that's for sure.

yeah, i'd agree to that. you probably aren't going to win the thing, but you should probably be hitting the quarter finals. not struggling to qualify...

...then going out meekly on penalties.  :wink:

(Which is, of course, "a lottery"... but England seem to have a knack for always picking the wrong numbers.)

:D I hope the new manager starts to bring in the younger talent. I thought MacLaren made a huge mistake not having Theo Waldcott or David Bentley on the bench, both have great skill & Waldcott has great pace to. I think its fair to say there both far better players than Defoe, or Bent are. If we were to list the problems in English football this thread would last for the next 6 months !  :lol:  :lol:

Youth football needs to be revamped. We need to stop blaming foreign players & start competing with them. We need to start training up the next generation of managers. It seems incredible to me that right now we have Arsene Wenger & Alex Ferguson current managers both with unbelievable amounts of knowledge & yet theres no trainy managers being trained by them. If these were guitar players we would have god nos how many DVD`s & instructional magazine articles, and loads of us fellow guitarists would be learning how off of them. Says it all really doesn`t it.
