Good riddence to Mclaren.

Martin O'Neil and Jose Mourinho bookies favourite to replace!
I have to say Jose would be $%&#ing awesome imo, and that's coming from a Man UTD supporter!
Though former Real Madrid manager is interested too. (he got sacked by Real Madrid even though he won the Spanish league with them!)

That's the last thing England need, they do "boring and defensive" already - albeit very badly on the "defensive" part.

Talk about a scapegoat! I really feel for  Mclaren when its clearly the team who are shite. It's plain to see England will be bad at football because the players don't care about international games anymore. Everyones too obsessed with club level where 80% of the players are foreign. Maybe if we limited the ammount of foreign players in our leagues clubs would be forced to invest money into training kids so we have a wealth of good players to pick from.

To me being an englishman international football is the most important as its about the country and everyone can appreciate that. What we don't need is a foreign manager he has to be english!

:D Stop living in cloud coockoo land !!!!!!!

Jose` Mourinho is not going to manage England in a million years ! He`s allready turned it down last week live on Sky ! You wont get Arsene Wenger or Alex Ferguson either infact no one of any proven talent will go anywhere near the poison Chalice that is the England managers job !

I bet we end up with either a yesterdays man who`s seen better days or a manager with no experience being teamed up with another manager with little to no experience. ie Capello or Alan Shearer with Stuart Pearce. As for Sam Alladyce do you really wont England to play like Bolton ! [ he`s allready ruled himself out of the running today ] & as for Martin O`Neil do me a favour he turned Leicester into bore draw specialists & managed 1 of only 2 teams in Scotland hardly a strong recommendation. Even i could manage Celtic or Rangers hell even you lot could run Celtic or Rangers !!!

The sad truth is we just dont play great football in this country its not part of our make up. I watched with great sadness my mates young son playing football with his boys team. All about 10years old playing on full size pitch with full size goals. The only way they could get the ball up to the front players was to hump it right up the field. it was very depressing to watch. We dont make great players in this country we dont turn out great players, we delude ourselves that our players are world class when as last night against Croatia proved that we dont have any. Its also true i care far more about my team [ Arsenal ] than i have ever cared about England. As for Steve Maclaren impossible job really he wasn`t 1st choice to start with His got ordinary players to pick from most of whom under perform for England regulary, Lampard, Gerrad, J.Cole all cr@p last night again & when have they ever looked great in the last 5 years ? Why wasn`t Theo Waldcott or David Bentley on the bench last night instead we had  Jermaine DeFoe & Darren Bent & you want to no why i laughed my head last night ! Its the FA we need to replace not Steve maclaren.

 :D  8)

Sorry For The RANT !!!!!

what pissed me off was how he didn't resign, he waited to get sacked so he would get a ridiculous payoff (£2.5 million)!

In fairness regarding the pay-off - don't blame McClaren, blame the stupid gits at the FA who negotiated his contract. If someone said to you "You can resign and we'll give you nowt or we can fire you and you get £2.5 million" which one would you go for? Barwick and his mob should be getting a lot more flak than they are.

As much as I hate Gordon Brown ( ), I have to admit that I like his idea of bringing back the Home Nations tournament next year seeing as none of us have actually qualified for Euro2008.

Before anyone has a go at me for being Welsh can I just say that I was supporting England on Wednesday night.  Where I was brought up in North Wales the closest First Division teams were either in Birmingham or Liverpool.  I ended up supporting Liverpool as a kid and have stuck with them ever since through thick (Istanbul) and thin (the Souness years), so I wanted to see England do OK.

However if we go get a Home Nations Tournament up and running next year I can safely say that Wales will probably finish bottom, but I reckon the team to beat will be the Scots.....

Damn it if those boys haven't played their qualification with pride and passion, something sadly lacking from the overpaid nancy boys of England.  I mean "COME OFF IT!!!!" no fairy chavball player is really worth paying £120,000 A WEEK  .  "Oh they need it because their career is so short" we hear the sympathsisers say....THEY EARN MORE IN ONE YEAR THAN A HIGH POWERED LONDON EXEC WILL EARN IN A LIFETIME!!  The only reason they earn that sort of money is because football is tainted from the ground up.

Take Spain last year......
Operation Pueto......the big blood doping scandal.....the reason why most of the big names in the 2006 Tour De France were banned from riding.  Off go the European press about how dirty cycling is.  Dr Fuentes (the doc at the heart of this blood doping scandal) then came out and said that his book with the code names of his patients in it didn't just have cyclists.  Top tier tennis player and olympic class athletes were also on his books, but his Hippocratic oath prevented him from saying who they really were.  The Tennis and Athletics federations then went after the dopers like the cycling federation was doing.  However Fuentes actually came out and said that there were whole Primiera Liga teams also on his books......what did Fifa and Uefa do about it????
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!
They swept the whole thing under the carpet and we've heard nothing about it since.

Football is full of overpaid nancy boys who care nothing about their National teams or about the sheer pride of pulling on the jersey, they're only obcessed about who's paying for the next Bentley or Range Rover Sport.  I think Premiership players should be banned from playing for England..........just let the lads in the Championship play......then you'll see some passion for playing for your national team, and maybe the Premiership top earners might see that theres more to the beautiful game than their stupid pay packets.

If you want to watch a real sport though try rugby!
No daft money (yet.....hopefully it'll stay that way), sensible use of modern technology (video ref, and post match citations for things the ref missed), sin bins for foul play, only the Captain can talk to the ref, no foul language, and if a player goes down injured you know they're injured!!!  Plus I would be happy to take any kids to a rugby match and not have to explain the swearing from all around me like I would if I went to a football match.

Where's the soapbox emoticon when you need one
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot!

no, i actually think its the managers job to pick the side, motivate the players and get them to work as a team.

obviously that didn't work out, so McLaren had to go.

i dont deny the FA needs to take a long hard look at themselves also

Q: What's the difference between The FA and Lewis Hamilton?
A: Hamilton still has his McLaren today.

Anyway. This is the best (potential) England squad we've had since 1990 (when we know we should've run out winners) and we need a competent, confident manager to get the best out of these players. That guy was never gonna be McLaren - he's an assistant coach, at best. He's no manager or head coach, he's just a quiffed buffoon with no tactical knowledge, no motivational abilities and the personality of a lettuce and dogshite sandwich.

Good riddance and bring Fabio Capello on. One of the greatest managers of all-time says he's interested in the job - YOU GO AND SIGN HIM!!!

+1

you have two decent players- beckham (who's getting old) and rooney (who's injured a lot).
