Nylon nut material
« on: November 24, 2007, 08:04:23 AM »
I've ordered a blank for the nut of my LP. It comes from a leftover sheet  from the old Kalamazoo Gibson plant and it's a mixture of Nylon 4 and 6. Nylon 4 is no longer made so there's little chances of finding something as historically correct as this.

50's Gibson guitars sounded terrific and they all used this material so it might add to the tone or maybe not....

DAYM i would like to play that one!

Did you order NOS fretless wonder wire too?

AFAIK the 50's LP's should have a very mellow sound, the nylon nut would be coherent with that kind of tone.

I hope you put all nickel string on that, if not we should have a good talk about life and guitars and stuff

refret and new nut go hand in hand most of the times.....
