Blade Runner final cut at the cinema

Totally not guitar orientated this one but what the hell.

I managed to go and see Blade Runner the final cut last night at the cinema and it was quite literally plain awesome. If you've never seen the masterpiece which is blade runner I urge you to check out as it is one of the best films ever made.

It is being shown over the next 2 weeks in select cinemas in the UK, not sure if the americans have had it already but its a really limited release.

I couldn't honestly tell you what was changed from the directors cut but theres quite a few scenes added and Vangelis had redone the music so its really improved the quality a lot. Seeing it on the big screen really made a big impact on me and even though this movie was made in the early 80s its pretty hard to tell, it has aged very well considering its a sci fi movie set in 2019.

Anyway go see it!

yeah i really want to see this - just to see a clean version of it.... the film has never been quite right and i am interested to see how this apparently final version shapes up

apparently lots of fixes where done such as correcting the police sergeant at the start who says there are 5 replicants on the loose when there are only 4 in the film... as long as it doesnt go the ET route where you now have policemen pointing torches at kids rather than the guns in the original

Just wait for the redone Star Wars where the word 'Wookie' has been changed by 'hair challenged being' and all stormtroopers are changed into Ewoks.

I'm interested in this due to it being Blade Runner, but I'm generally against artists going back and re-doing their previous works, whether it's film, an album, whatever.

That being said, if you like Blade Runner, I would suggest checking out the following:

Ghost In The Shell, original manga and anime film
Appleseed, original manga
Bubblegum Crisis, original anime series

Future Noir: The Making Of Blade Runner, the ultimate guide to the film!

I read that Ridley Scott has been wanted to release this (final) version 5 years ago to coincide with the films 20th anniversary but it got somewhat delayed.
I have seen the first two versions, the first on the small screen only but the second at the cinema. I imagine I won't get a chance to see this one on a big screen but I'm sure the DVD will be awesome. I love the soundtrack and the CD (which is not the same as the soundtrack) is great, I'm very interested to hear what Vangelis has done with it.
