New amp time! Yahoo

Howdie. I need an amp. Got some requirements though:

Something valve, combo or head, has to be loud enough to gig and possibly taking to rehearsals, portability is key also, as I don't have a car right now. The band I'm in is playing some American influenced alt-rock stylee stuff. So a good clean sound is needed, but also manage a good crunch, nothing with massive gain. Single channels are fine, I like using pedals for distortion.

Been thinking of low wattage valve amps, considering a Tiny Terror. I love the tone of these little toasters, and would love to carry it to rehearsals and gigs. Would it be loud enough though? Most gigs will be miced through the PA anyway, will it stand up in a rehearsal room through a 4x12?

Any other amps you guys think of I'll try and have a go with, main gear will be a Country Boy loaded Tele and a Strat with a Holydiver in the bridge (Strat being the main guitar). And try not to be more expensive than £350 (ignoring a cab for now).

Still interested by the TT, any anecdotes about band volumes? Also on my mind are the Peavey Valveking 1x12 and Fender Blues Jr.

it all depends on the drummer...

my drummer can be drowned out easily by a 15w practise amp.

twilight odyssey's (the only other band i saw rehearse) drummer needs a cranked 100w amp to keep up ;)

Well our drummer is a beast, double bass pedal and a heavy hand. The fact that he is an apprentice plasterer doesn't help...

I'm so undecided, I plan to be checking out some possibilities once my Strat is ready (still awaiting pickups). Still need to find something that can be cranked, but not piss off the neighbours when I need to practice in my flat...

I rehearse with the 'DC band with a TT.  And it's not fully cranked either.  Plus our drummer isn't exactly light handed!

I reckon for most bands, a TT is great for rehearsal or mic'd up gigs.  Un-mic'd you won't cut through enough.

Our drummer is crazy. You may have seen from my speaker thread the new rig - I'll need to crank that baby to get heard over our drummer!!!

Sounds good enough for me, it's mainly the rehearsals I'm thinking about, as 90% of gigs in Glasgow will be miced.

Easy peasy. Spend most of my playing time with my DS-1 on anyway, should be alright I think.

I have a TT50H. Very happy with it so far, tho I would like a bit more bass. Always used to use my AOR100 for nearly 20 years tho, and that has more bass than my old bassplayer's bass rig had!! Hence the love of monstrous bottom end.

valve amp heads typically cost £20, I managed to get a 4x12 cab shipped for £60. I guess a 2x12 would cost about £40-£50.
