Nailbomb and MQ in an ES 335
« on: November 30, 2007, 07:25:17 PM »
Ok, so the guitar is an Epiphone Dot, but I ripped out all the electronics and replaced everything with CTS pots, Gibson braided wire, Switchraft 3-way toggle and jack.

And of course, a Nailbomb bridge and MQ neck  ;)

I confess, though, that for some reason these recordings sound relatively bad. The guitar plugged in sounds sweet, full and biting! But recorded, it loses some of its edge and sweetness  :(  I didn't even record clips with distortion/overdrive cuz they sounded just cr@p in the playback.

Used NI Guitar Rig 3 (omg!) to record these. All clips done through their rendition of an Orange amp. Same EQ and settings for all clips, no post-recording work done.

(You can comment on whatever you want, if you want. I didn't play to impress, just to expo the sounds of the pickups in this guitar  :) )
BKP guitars:
Epiphone Dot Studio (NB bridge, MQ neck)
Gibson LP Studio (MM bridge, CS neck)

I never would have thought a Nailbomb in the bridge position of a semi would sound so good clean.

Muso: Hell yea!   8)

Ratrod: I was a little surprised too. But Tim said that the Nailbomb cleaned up well, so I believed him. But when I actually HEARD it, I was like.. WOW

Sounds amazing with some crunchy overdrive, but when I record it, it sounds awful  :(
