But if you can just do me the littlest of favour, PLEASE let it sound like your actually trying really hard a bit more, it pretty much makes my hard work seem pointless

That RY sound is excellent .... If I'd heard that earlier I may have fitted RY's in my LP, instead of Emeralds  :)

Now listen to his VHII and Black Dog clips - then you'll really be in two minds (or three, or four).

Philly said Crawlers, hmm, they might be too hot for my tastes.

I don't think they're significantly hotter than the RY's - just a little "looser", with less emphasis on the treble/upper mids.  At least, that's what I'm imagining - I'll find out soon.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

+1, you're definately right on that point. I think you'll find out the RY has more upper mids and less bass, while the Crawlers have less upper mids and a more 'darker' tone. The Crawlers seems like a hotter wound version of the Black Dog with emphasis on the lower mids.

Finally listened to the clips.  Bloody hell, Hunter, how do you keep doing it?  Never mind BKPs, you could put some shitety Korean pickups in there and still sound great.

"In My Time Of Dying" is my absolute favourite Zeppelin riff - probably my favourite riff, full stop.  You got really close to that spooky JP slide tone!

Is that the Brutal Beats drums again, by the way?

It's all in the amps guys, the pickups are the BKP icing on the cake  ;)

Top clips again though Hunter, as always.  :)

Haha, thanks for all, this is some lovely feedback.

I think it's a bit of all really, the amps, the cab/speakers, guitar, cable, pickups and being lucky to find the right combination of settings and mic position ... ah and the attitude of the player for sure :o)

Philly to be fair, I had some pretty decent Korean pickups in my PRS SE when it came stock, but they weren't even close to the VHIIs I put in after.  I think the impact of BKPs on the end result is huge!

Guess crawlers are not for me, I'm really after bite in a bridge pickup, it's gotta drive the top end of my amp and be rather tight in the bottom. However I do love the Black Dogs and they are a bit darker ...

Looking forward to feedback about your crawler, and yes, it was a loop from the BrutalBeatz compilation.

Ever thought about Crawlers for your Edwards LP, Christoph?  That's what I'm putting in mine - can't tell you what they sound like yet, haven't had time to fit them...

I'd love to know how that sounds...my Edwards is in customs (woohoo!) , and I will be changing out the pickups at some point, so may swap the Crawler out of the Strat, and put something new in there...

Hunter - Great clips fella, and great to hear your Edwards in action :)
