Fast Telecaster double stop lick

I've been working on this lick for 2 days now. I have it memorized but I don't have it to the speed Ted is playing it on the vid.

I can play it right off with it all picked.

My finger & chicken pikcing sucks though, so....well I havent even tried it that way  :lol:

I picked up a nice dvd yesterday that will keep me busy for a while.

Robben Ford...Back to Blues. It's a 3 hours instructional.

I don't play country music but I like learning fast country licks like the one I posted.

The Robben Ford instruction sounds like a real winner !

I love the way he throws in tasteful  diminished ideas on the V chord - and I can imagine that he also does so much more than a mere magazine interview can cover. It's the way he plays what you think is familiar, then really tastefully throws you a curve ball before resolving it again in a authoritive way. I like Larry Carlton for the same type of thing. I know that these ideas may not be news to the shredders, but with Robben it's the way he applies it so it is still blues - but with a tonal roller coaster. Listening to B.B. King's 1998 instrumental 'Blues Boys Tune' ( on You Tube ) I hear some of the same approach being used.

Sounds like you will have many enjoyable months of absorbing and a lifetime of applying there 808 ...

I have to give credit to my brother for enfluencing me to Robben Ford.

Larry Carlton and Robben Ford have a cool video on youtube called Cold, Cold.

I have plenty of absorbing to do. I just finished watching the dvd. It has a wealth of knowledge in it and he answered a lot of questions I had about playing the guitar.

Between him and Brian Setzer, no telling what kind of freak guitar player I'll turn into! :lol:  8)

I'm gonna give the B.B. King video a listen right now. Thanks for the heads up!

I also have a 3 hour B.B. King instructional a need to finish.

Robben Ford has breathed new life into my practices and guitar playing, and that's just from listening to his music and reading a few interviews and lessons.


I agree wholeheartedly with the analysis above. The familiar, yet beautiful solos ending with great authority. Does the guy ever play a bad note? I think what one hears is extreme confidence in his playing and how to make anything work. The key to that is turning the analyzer off whilst playing and concentrating on making music and enjoying it. Easier said than done.
