I bought two tickets today, right in the middle of the 4th row. 8) The concert will be held at the Palace of Arts next April. The Palace of Arts is a new cultural centre here in Budapest with a concert hall, a festival theatre, a contemorary arts museum, halls and auditoriums. The concert hall is 'high-tech', kind of interactive - the acoustics of the hall can be altered to suit anything from a grand orchestra to a rock band. Those resonance chambers in the walls are among the variables: by opening or closing them, partially or fully, only a few or all etc. the room ambience can be changed. There are acoustic canopies over the podium to further shape the sound. Even the sculptures in the hall were designed with acoustics in mind. I'm sure there are some hidden moving parts, too. The structure of the hall is almost floating in the heart of the building, so it should be soundproof. Another interesting fact about the hall is that it has a huge concert organ, most of which is hidden. The largest pipes were put in place during the initial construction phase of the hall. :twisted:

I'd kill puppies to see tommy emanuel in the grottiest of locals.

He's been to Hungary several times before, always played in the grottiest of locals, he was great as usual - he'll play anywhere you can imagine and have a great time - but the organisers always f'ed up something. Now he'll finally perform where such a quality event belongs.

i thought Budapest was the capital of France, but i'm not sure that's a country. they do speak French there though!

I live in Australia, in a town called Taree, of roughly 20 thousand people. He's visited here 3 times in the last few years.

Missed him every single time.

I was sick to hear recently that Tommy played in a town near me and I knew nothing of it. That looks like a great venue Peter.

I've seen Tommy Emmanuel twice, this year and last year.

My friend saw him for the first time and walking out he said "I would do gay for Tommy", so hopefully that's enough persuasion for anyone who hasn't seen him to do so.

He is amazing, anything you can do with an acoustic - he can do it. And usually if he has a good supporting artist, the finale is awesome.

I saw him this year with Andy McKee and even got his autograph. Even though he's somewhat unknown, a guy's signature from someone who plays like him is good enough!
