Had a bit of an insane afternoon ...

Hmm, you know it folks, when you start messing about with your stuff there is no end.

So, I was not 100% happy with my Edwards and the RebelYells, they were very hard to dial in and I think the 53mm spacing was a bit of an issue sound wise.

Soooo, then I looked at all my stuff and decided to get the Black Dog bridge out of the Epiphone and replace it with a JB SH04 I had lying around, as well as get the chrome covered VHII out of teh neck of my PRS SE and replace it with the 59 Duncan from the Edwards.

Now I have a killer JP Les Paul, with Black Dogs in the bridge and a covered VHII in the neck - restored looks and it sounds freakin awesome. The BlackDog didn't really come alive so well  in the Epi, it is now really cutting through with high mids that are just perfect. The VHII is a good companion, but not sure if it's gonna stay where it is now.

So that was a lot of soldering but a very nice outcome.

Not surprised the BD sounds good in the bridge, but I'm just wondering how the VHII compares with the '59 and the BD neck.  I've heard it's quite bassy?
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

the '59 was way too bassy. I am not a specialist with neck pickups, mostly use them clean actually .. I think I want a Missisippi Queen for the neck, but gotta make up my mind - maybe a trio of Apaches and a neck MQ for xmas, that might be something ...

so the vh2 neck is brighter than the '59, then? I actually quite like the warmth of the '59, I just wish it'd take on dirt a bit better without mudding up. :)

Made a clip this afternoon with a fair bit of neck humbucker going, so please judge yourself if it has all you look for in a neck PU (with PU height the whole EQ can vary quite significant actually)
