Bought it as a birthday/xmas present for myself (bday on the 14th)  :D

An original 70's or 80's Yamaha SG1000. Only slight fogging and apart from that mint condition according to the seller. Mahogany body, 3 piece maple top, ebony board :D Should be here by Wednesday.

hope your backs ok... the ones i have played would easily rival most les pauls for weight.  Excellent guitars though - i do regular maintenance work on one very similar and its a real beauty

Heh the weight is part of the reason why I chose the Yamaha SG. I like my guitars meaty and substantial

That looks bloody great. I've always liked the Yammy SG's.

If I didn't have a Les Paul already I would buy one of those. It's just too good a guitar to have only as a back up.

Mind you ... I still may get one  :)

Lovely guitar !

I remember the guitar player in a local ( Leeds ) band playing one of these around 1980 - and it sounded great. If your seller used to be in a band called 'Dodgy Tactics' - it's probably the same tone machine. In any case, it had a unique voice,  as I recall it sounded like a good heavy Les Paul with a sprinkling of Gibson S.G. for good measure. The lovely moist ebony fretboard and quality inlays looked like a dream to play on !

Enjoy !

  :D

I doubt it'd be that FF. The seller is from Preston. Heavy LP with a sparkle in sound is exactly what I want :)

I'm gonna see how it sounds first obviously but I might get the pups rewound to Mules or Crawlers spec if it sounds lacking.

I can't wait!

As much as I love the Mules in my Les Paul Standard, to do that '59 thing - I am 'hearing' Crawlers in my mind as an extension of that lovely creamy fat  Yammy S.G. sound.

( Just a thought )

Having heard a few of these before, I don't think there's any danger in the sound from it's pup's lacking.

It may not be the tone that you want but you're going to get a solid, full tone from it - if it's still in full working order of course.

Oh God ... I suddenly have the urge to go and buy one   :)

I'd have an SG1000 over most Gibbos.  :)

Beautiful git!

You're giving me ideas of black pup rings and pickguard for my Cherryburst LP.
