BOX OF ROCK - Shiva - BlackDog/VHII
« on: December 14, 2007, 08:02:30 PM »
Righty, just received the BOR today and hooked it up with Shiva (BlackDog bridge VHII neck in the Edwards).

First you hear the Shivas drive channel without and with boost, then the clean channel then the BOR.

Awesome pedal, very open and organic sounding, and totally inspiring to play as it reacts very lively to details in attack and stuff.

Long clip, but gives an idea of the many facettes, by the way, pedal or amp setting never changed during the whole time.

Oh and sorry, I did not have my SM57 here, so recorded with a shitety camcorder mic, but gives an idea I guess.

Tone sounds great!

I'm leaning towards some Black Dogs for my '94 Cherryburst Standard.

Just installed some Black Dogs into my ESP les paul and it sounds phenomenal! Your clips were part of the reason why i got them.

How much was the pedal by the way?

Got it for 90 GBP off ebay, saw yesterday they are just 115 GBP at Hotroxuk

Get one - if you have an amp with the right sort of (tubey) clean tone that is.

You have to watch the flubby bass syndrome as you wind on the gain with the BOR - it's just like a JTM45 in that respect.  Good pedal though.  It sounds VERY fizzy and flubby when the battery starts to die though, so carry a spare or use a power supply  :)

Right, I remember. I'm sure it's gonna be a great match, and if not, they hold their value well, especially as they are considerably more expensive in restern Europe than via HR UK (eg. Thomann 235 EUR = 168 GBP).
