Ibanez tuning problems AGAIN

Ok so I bought a used USA Custom RG. I replaced the Edge Trem with a different one in much better condition and new locking trem posts.

*The locking nut is screwed in tight
*The trem is lubricated
*I've been stretching the strings since this morning
*The tuners are screwed in tight
*The tremolo knife edges look fine
*Locking trem posts are locked
*The tremolo angle is perfect

But still this effing guitar will not hold its tuning. I had the same problem with my last RG and that's why I sold it. I didn't think this could happen to me again twice in a row.

what the hell am I doing wrong?

The only tremolo I've ever used that's actually never given me trouble is the Original Floyd Rose but the Edge trem is surposed to be just as good, so some one please help me sort this out or I'm selling this off and never bothering with trem guitars again

I can think of a few more things to check but other than this I'm stumped:

What did you lubricate the trem with? Could there be a sticky residue?

Is there any damage to the underside of locking nut clamps?

Is the new bridge an Edge? If so, which kind? There were some made with fat knife edges which were supposed to be more durable but don't always hold tune and need to be filed.

Is there any movement of the saddles?

Are the new posts Ibanez locking ones, and if so do they have a small ring cut into the post shaft below the pivot area? These are the current ones and have a larger pivot area than older ones allowing better stability.

Check the neck for movement and make sure the neck crews are tight enough; try pushing the trem all the way down, try and move the neck with your left hand (gently!) and listen for a 'crack' if the neck moves, pull the trem up and then push down again and try again.
I see a rainbow rising
Look there on the horizon
And I'm coming home

The advice about the neck is good, it might be moving ever so slightly.

Are the springs in the back new or very used? Is there any movement at all in the trem posts. Are the signs of cracking around the base of the bit you screw them in to (it's early on Sunday, I'm hungover and I'm buggered if I can remember what they are called), trem post inserts will do. Does it return to pitch below or above normal tuning?

Did you oil underneath the saddles and clean it all off so there is no chance of them slipping ever so slightly? Do all the strings go out of tune or is it just one? Did you set up both guitars you had the problem with yourself? Are the V shaped grooves in the posts worn?

I've got 3 (older) RGs and I've never had any problems with the edge trems, I think they are one of the better ones out there. Well the earlier ones are anyway.

If you've checked all the obvious things then I'm a bit stumped. All I can say is take it to a tech and ask him/her to have a look at it for an opinion.
There are 10 kinds of people who understand binary.
Those who do and those who do not.
