I note from the BKP website that there is a Vintage rewinding service offered.

Does this mean Tim could bring a dead pickup of mine back to life ?

Yep. He'll rewind it with plain enamel wire using his scatter winding method. The pickups will sound better than ever. I think he could also replace the magnets if you want.

I have had 3 pickups fixed this way. 2 were dead with damaged coils, a P-90 and a 60 Strat. The other was a PAF that had been rewound many years ago and I wanted it back to stock sound.

The results with all of them have been great. It is a good option if you have an old guitar and don't want to change the pickups.

I have sent two pickups to you today. One is the dead Neck Texas Special and the other is the Middle. Would you please rewind them to give a more authentic SRV / Hendrix vibe.

We do an aweful lot of rewind work especially vintage stuff where we work hard to replicate original spec.
Most pickups can be 'resusitated', the only problems occur if the pickup has been encased in epoxy resin, then it's a no goer as we simply can't get to the coil/s.However the majority of humbuckers, Strats, Teles and P90s present no problem at all.

I've spent the evening refitting the resurrected pickups you rewound to Irish Tour Spec - Astounding !!!

They sound so much louder and dynamic. The mid pickup has a really woody tone. They nail the Hendix / SRV / Gallagher sound.

I've got a '54 Tokai Springysound coming over from Japan and I can sense an Apache Attack coming on soon ;-)

No worries ...........glad you like it.
Rewinding an originally well made pickup, ie one that's been made from decent materials, is always worth it! 8)
