Vox AmPlugs?
« on: December 19, 2007, 10:13:10 AM »
Has anyone given them a go? they got a good review in guitarist recently; i thought I'd give one a go as i was at a loss for things to ask for for christmas from my Gramps. I think my neighbours would appreciate it too!
The AC30 model is the one I've gone for; as that was the one that i thought sounded best in Guitarist mag's CD clips (suprisingly versatile sounding too). I also figured that it would be a good partner for my new Grado SR-80 headphones that my girlfriend's got me (legend). How do they sound when you're wearing the headphones - anything like playing the real thing at all? (obviously I don't expect to fully capture the majesty of the AC30 from a £30 bit of plastic that plugs into my guitar jack).
I've also got a BYOC Mighty Mouse (ProCo Rat) coming and a nice new soldering iron; it's going to be another great Guitarmas.
Thanks boys and girls for any feedback on the AmPlugs.

EDIT: these things have analogue modelling apparently - impressive

The clips on the vox site aren't that bad (for the AC30 one anyway - the others sound poo); the ones with guitarist magazine sounded good.
I can't find anyone on the internet whose tried one out and has a bad word to say about them. If these things manage to do what they say on the tin effectively I reckon they'll do very well indeed.

Well the "metal" and "classic rock" clips sound ATROCIOUS. But the Vox AC30 sounds very, very, very nice for a 2-inch piece of circuitry.

Hadn't heard of them before now, but thanks for bringing them to my attention- think I might get the AC30 after Christmas sometime.

 :D

Would get some more use out of my Sennheisers!!!

I was talking the the manager in my local shop and persuaided him to stock some, however that will be after christmas :(

If you are happy with a soldering iron try here, as the analogue amp sims that these guys do are pretty good (especially at the price ;) )
