Hi, I'm new and would like to ask
« on: August 14, 2005, 02:26:24 AM »
I've heard so many great things about these pickups that BKP produce. But being in Australia, the usual response from the local guitar shop getting no more than a Furrowed brow, and a confused "Bare what?"

Well if you cant bring the mountain to you... Go to the mountain.

I'm taking my honeymoon in the UK in November. Right at the top of my shopping list is at least a couple of sets of pickups.

My question (for now)?

Is there dealers in the UK that you guys recommend I go for a good choice of on hand stock, or quick ordering times? Or do we deal completely on line with the on-line shop?

Thanks Guys/Gals.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your forthcoming nuptials. There are some good dealers in the UK (there is a section on the main site pages) but I'd suggest you order on line. I believe there are a couple of forum members in Australia. The hard bit is choosing but ask and you will have a ready response from other members.

Cheers

If you are in England for the Guitar show at the NEC (Birmingham), you can try the pickups and buy them there.  Of course your wife might not be too thrilled to be doing that on her honeymoon  :na:

I got mine at Feline Guitars in Croyden (roughly South East of London - quite easy to get to from Central London via Victoria train station). Their details should be listed on the dealers page of the BKP site.

Jonathan at Feline was very helpful and the turn around time, from ordering to fitting, was about 1 week.

Another place you could try is Chandler Guitars in Kew (South West of London). I've bought other stuff from them and they're pretty good.

Hey guys thanks for the replies.

I'll be in Chalford St Peters, apparently its in Buckinghamshire :(  :?:
for about a week, then its off to Kirkcaudy. for about anther week then up through the Scottish highlands and then down the west coast through Manchester.

Really lookin forward to it... MAN ITS GONNA BE COLD, cant wait!

I know nothing about the shopping in England. I've heard thers a whole street of guitar shops in London. Pretty expensive I've heard.

You'll be able to get to London from Chalfont ( there is Chalfont St Giles and Chalfont St Peter- greedy bugger that Chalfont) which is in Buckinghamshire a bit north west of London. I am not sure if there is a main line station there but if not, you should be able to get to London reasonably easily from a town nearby. The road you are talking about is Tottenham Court Road in the West End (Johnny Mac will chip in hear as he probaly knows London as well as anyone)- you'd have to get a tube to Tottenham Court Road station- the missus can do Oxford Street and you can do TCR. You are right in that it could be cold but you may be lucky with the weather. Shopping in the UK is like everywhere in Europe- overpriced- you just have to shop around and haggle.

Are you leaving from Manchester?  If not and you are leaving from lLondon, you will pass Brimingham NEC.  Depending on your dates you might be able to call in there.

If you are going by Manchester you should with out a doubt check out Sounds great music, it is in Cheadle not far from Manchester and it is my favourite guitar shop.
They sell loads of BKP's and also sell lots of other high class gear such as Suhr guitars and amps, Tyler guitars, PRS etc.
check em out www.soundsgreatmusic.com

Hi Jared

That's the way to start...guitars on honeymoon!

+1 Sounds Great are excellent - the first BKP main dealer I think. There's Soho soundhouse around the corner from Denmark Street, they sell lots of BKPs too.
