Alrighty I have had a profitable Christmas + Birthday, and I need a new amp. I'm torn though, here's the science bit.
On the cards is a Tiny Terror. I like the tone and the portability, love the idea of taking it to rehearsals and gigs on my back. Portability is a big factor here, as being a student living on my own with no transport lugging a 1x12 combo to a rehearsal on a bus doesn't exactly appeal to me. Lets ignore a cab for the time being, the Rrooms have plenty...
Then again I did play a very nice Blues Jr a while back, and was mighty impressed by the tone. The Peavy Valvekings are also reasonably priced and my Dad swears by his. Also Woogie is selling his VC30, which is a 2x12 and would sound awesome, again not portable...
So it boils down to- TT: portable for rehearsing- my own sound and the DSLs in the rooms can feck off (awful amps...), but compromise in wattage/volume. Gigs will be fine, shall be mic-ed up in 90% of cases.
Or, something a bit more practical, but harder to lug around.
All this is short term really, as by Summer I shall have graduated, got a car and a nicely paid job. But in the short term I need some guidance.
If this post sounds disjointed and is a pain to read I apologies, I'm tired, got my girlfriend talking to me while I type, and also have found a sweet sound with my tele and some dirt and some vibrato from my amp. Noodling while holding a conversation AND typing is a tricky job.
