This is my pimped out Squier Strat with holydiver bridge into an MI Audio Crunchbox into a Marshall DSL100. The playing is abit sloppy and it was recorded at a very low volume, but you can get an idea of the sound of it.

my opinon completely based on hear-say and online clips has lead me to believe that holy divers are a sort of modern industrial metal version of that classic 80s sound. would you say thats true?

very thick tone, you must be very pleased ;) useful clip, sounds processed at times, i guess you used some tricks? (doubling etc)

yea the holy diver is perfect for 80's metal, I may try it in my sg at some point to see how it sounds in there compared to the squier, but for now i am extremely happy with the sound of it. :twisted:

Thank you very much, although there are many amps I would much prefer to the DSL as it can sound really fizzy and harsh at times, although it sounds much better now I've changed the speakers in the cab.

only thing that is missing is Dio's voice!! You can't really have holy diver without Dio wailing: "HOOOLY DIVAH!" 8)

Someone should do a remake of Holy Diver about Steve Vai and call it Holy Diva :P Possibly the worst idea ever but I think it would be slightly amusing.

Before I just had a marshall 1960 cab with celestion g12t-75's in and now I have two g12h-30's and two g12t-75's. But i will be replacing the two remaining g12t-75's with classic lead 80's soon hopefully.

Nice, i have 2 Classic Lead 80's in my Laney VC50 and i can tell you it sounds awesome, interesting to see how it will match up with the G12H-30's too.

Search players for Holy Divers... I recall the opposite experience. I know at least the very first Holy Diver clips to recall here were very old school... almost a Van Halenesque vibe in the sense that it sounded like you were in the room when whoever playing was playing them.
