How will it sound
« on: December 27, 2007, 09:41:30 PM »
First of all Merry Xmas all.Just aquired an Epiphone Korina Explorer and am thinking of fitting a set of Rebel Yells. Any thoughts on how these pups might sound in this guitar would be much appreciated.
cheers

There was a thread about this somewhere. Rebel Yells are supposed to be great in V's.

probably bright from what i hear from korina guitars
so if you want a darker RY-like tone, try a crawler or holy diver

first things first - are the epiphones actually made from solid Korina - because i think they may have just veneered them at some point.  If thats so then its no good thinking of korina as the tonal base

secondly.  Korina/limba is not an overly bright sounding wood.  Its more comparable to mahogany - but just a bit warmer and richer
