I've decided that I'm going to change out the pickups in my epiphone sg, and now I just need to decide what I'm going to get. I've pretty much narrowed my choice down to a calibrated pair of cold sweats, or a nailbomb + mq combo. I've already got a nailbomb in the bridge of my ibanez rg so I pretty much know what to expect from it, and having listened to a lot of clips in the other forum I have a fair idea of what I'll get from the cold sweat as well, and to be honest I'd be perfectly happy with either.
the dilemma I have is which neck pickup to go for. I absolutely love the lead sound from the cold sweat, but the clean sound seems a little bassy for my liking (I was trying to work out how to describe what I didn't like about it last night, and for some reason the first word that came to mind was 'pink', which wasn't helpful in the slightest). on the other hand, the mq clean sounds nigh-on perfectly balanced and is almost exactly what I'd want from the pickup, but the lead sounds incredibly loose to me.
any advice from people who have the pickups I mentioned would be appreciated. as soon as I'm decided on which neck pickup I want, that will dictate which bridge pickup I have as well.
