minor major 7th

or diminished 7th

or

0

X
2
2
0

downtuned with loads of distortion

I've only just started playing with extended chords so I don't have a preference on those yet

D minor which is the saddest of all keys, I find. People weep instantly when they hear it, and I don't know why.

Does this mean Dm is the saddest chord?

Yes, yes it does. Russian sevenstrings have a low D added, primarilly for that chord.

True. and you can make it even sadder if you play it and push down on a Bigsby a bit. It can make grown men weep.

Dropping is for people too lazy to play properly.

I'd say EMaj to;

0 e
0 b
2 a
0 g
2 b
0 e

Has a certain charm in a REAL tuning. By that I mean standard and not dropped.

Alt. tuning on the other hand is for acoustic players and nutters.
I too use chicken as a measurement.

Apart from the opening chord to Hard Days Night the following is one of my favourites

Am7sus4 (as in the one below, very rich sounding on a 12 string)
E 0
B 3
G 0
D 2
A X
E X

Especially if followed by Fmaj7

E 0
B 1
G 2
D 3
A 0
E X

Though I do have a softspot for the discordant cord near the start of Floyds Astronomy Domine (but I cant remember what it's called but it's played straight after a regular open E)

E 0
B 0
G 0
D 1
A 1
E 0
Goodbye London !
