Michael Schenker is playing in a club about 15 mins away from me in early February. A few years ago I wouldn't have thought twice about going, but given his recent 'issues', I'm dubious about paying £15 upfront. Especially given you can pay that to see Joe Bonamassa!

Just wondering if anyone else has seen him on the tour (started Thursday according to his website) and has anything to report?

I'd pay; I saw Bonamassa a couple of times and he is totally worth the price of admission, but I must say MS is one of my guitar heros so I'd give him the benifit of the doubt and check him out.

I'm going to see Bonamassa in about a month - really looking forward to it, he's a big favourite at the moment. It's going to be about a 200 mile round trip, as the gig closest to me sold out, but I think it'll be worth it!

I am going to see Bonamassa next month too. I am hoping he's touring the "Sloe Gin" album.

I'm going to give him a shot on Thursday when he is playing in Sutton.

I hope his friends have straightened him out.
The last debacle was caused by him drinking on top of the heroin substitute (which you are not supposed to do) he was taking to deal with his heroin addiction, and the results were plain to see.

I feel sorry for him in some ways but anyone dabbling with Heroin or suchlike is playing with fire

I have just read a few reviews and Schenker has been on top form - 100% better than last year. The backing band may not be the ideal one (cant wait to have Gary Barden back in the band) but Michael is playing well again

I suspect the reason for the tour is to turn around the reports of Michael's demise from last year ahead of the new album coming out, as well as getting him back firing on all cylinders before recording the final parts of the album, and if what I have read are true then he is doing well on that front

This lineup is one of the Scandanavian lineups with the following lineup
    * Thomas Broman
    * Leif Sundin
    * Kjell Haraldsson
    * Thomas Torberg

Leif sung on a couple of his solo records

reviews etc can be seen here

originally i hadn't much sympathy for schenker after his recent issues.

however, with a gig in small sutton, well i might just go. i'd love to see him play 'rock bottom' etc... i'm very tempted, hes not playing anywhere in more central london for now.

I have a friend that works for a drug counsel/methadone clinic and he was telling me some crazy stuff that heroin addicts do.

Methadone makes it impossible to get high. So, what many methadone patients do is take most of their dosage of methadone and then do a very small hit of heroin so it has the impact of a full-on hit.

The bottom line is that heroin addiction is very very bad and there's no real way you can call anyone on methadone wholly reliable!

Just how bored do you have to be to think "I'll give it a try"?
I only hve to look at people who have gotten hooked to know why I wouldn't do drugs other than caffeine and an occasional bit of alcohol (which makes me such a lightweight drinker it is almost funny)

:D Have to say i agree. You`ve got to be the biggest W*nker on the face of the earth to take heroin in the first place !

I mean how do you think you can get away with it ? Every single document by even the independent agencies that review this stuff are telling you it is highly addictive & will kill you, i mean what more do you need to know ?

God I could do with a Gin & Tonic !
