whats the finish on the guitar now.  If its an oil  (like it looks) you will not be able to spray nitro over the top of it.

Oh, and hotrod if you can

yeah well, I oiled it yes. Wanted to sand it, put nitro foundation, nitro colour and nitro clearcoat.

On the hotrod I could also use a tinted clearcoat to give a vintage look to the white ... hmmmmmmmmmm

HMMMMMMM

most oil finishes penetrate too deeply in the wood  for sanding to be effective

generally i would say dont bother trying to spray over an oil finish but a couple of coats of shellac might work... shellac should bond to the oil and nitro should bond to shellac.

as always... test it all out inside a cavity first

that makes number 2 seem a better choice

I voted David, but Jimy is also a wonderful option.

However where is the Hank option, especially with the Apachies installed !

I voted Hot Rod. I also like the black guard on natural but it looks too much like an old man's guitar. All the other looks are just so common.

As is with black scratchplate for me. Understated but classy. That wood will age beautifully.

Perhaps black knobs, but not essential.

Oh, and Ratrod is right, I am an old man ...

I'm not one to talk, all my guitars are black with black scratchplates and maple necks...

Though the hot-rod is classy. Actually prefer number two, oiled with a black guard. Rock.

I voted number two - as is with a black scratchplate.  Very SRV.  You can still call it number one then  ;)

Hmm, "Stevieray" is a nice name too indeed, maybe I should add some darker brown spots* and done with the authentic replica? Or wasn't it a RW board?

"Number One" was rosewood, but you could stay with SRV and go for a "Lenny" vibe:

BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

I'd go with no.5, "David".  Or even a white finish and gold anodised scratchplate, like his other famous Strat.

Ohhhh The Number One

I change my vote! THIS!

As is with black scratchplate for me............ or as is with a suitable wooden scratchplate - just thought I'd throw that one in there.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

WD have finally dispatched my black scratchplate today, so I'll give option 2 a try next weekend and take it from there ... I think I'll end up with either David or Hotrod.
