Sooooo, I have a black bakelite scratch plate coming for my Apache-Strat.

As I'm bored and never satisfied, I want to change the looks. Already sourced nitro-cellulose spray cans, so I am keen to give it a go. There are several looks possible, which you can chose from here:

These are photoshopped and I am out of training so apologise for quality issues.

1. As is (no change)

2. Black Scratchplate Only

3. "Eric"

4. "Jimi"

5. "David"

6. "Hotrod"

whats the finish on the guitar now.  If its an oil  (like it looks) you will not be able to spray nitro over the top of it.

Oh, and hotrod if you can

yeah well, I oiled it yes. Wanted to sand it, put nitro foundation, nitro colour and nitro clearcoat.

On the hotrod I could also use a tinted clearcoat to give a vintage look to the white ... hmmmmmmmmmm

I'd go with no.5, "David".  Or even a white finish and gold anodised scratchplate, like his other famous Strat.

I like the top two natural-finish options, but they'd look much better with a '70s big headstock.  Natural finish and 50s neck looks wrong to me (I guess I'm a traditionalist).
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

As I like to have nick names for guitars and the strat is at the moment just "number one" (it was my first ever electric), I could call her "Sir David" if I'd go the black-black route ... tempting indeed.

I voted number two - as is with a black scratchplate.  Very SRV.  You can still call it number one then  ;)
