Mules in Gibson Les Paul r9 clip3 (The Darkness Riff)
« on: January 17, 2008, 12:59:58 PM »
This is how the mules sounds when I use my TIM pedal too boost the input stage of my marshall 1974x to get a more high-gain sound.

unpotted mules, alnico 4, bridge pickup. Tremolo channel volume about 11 o'clock, tone 12 o'clock. Tim is set mostly to boost with the gain knob set to approximately 9 o'clock and the volume knob on 3.

Hope my clips help. I'm trying to show as different things as possible...

Nice clip - but why try and imitate those awful Gibson 498T pickups that the Hawkins brothers used????

Mules do the "big, wide, open" thing best  ;)

You think the sound is bad? I think the sound is kinda nice for this riff. I mostly play clean and slighty crunchy sounds myself as i play rock and pop/rock - love the mules for that no doubt. Still don't think this is a bad sound for a The Darkness riff :?

I think it's an accurate tone for the riff, I just don't like the tone personally  :)

Nah its not a bad tone, i think there just arent many Darkness fans around.....

Twinfan is just fed up with low wattage amp sounds since he got the JTM45/100 "Holy Grail" GAS..... :P

I personally like that tone.

It has a nice, warm Classic Rock vibe to it.
