discovered this the other day

randall MTS amp (the modular one) with kirk hammet modules

anyone know how close these MTS modules sound compared to the original amps they are based off?

Yup  :)

However only the first channel of the Egnater module will work.

And look in this thread, hunter post his experiences with the MTS.

Personally, I've always thought Kirk has a totally ass guitar tone.

I agree, man. It's far too fuzzy for my liking.

this amp was announced a while back, its coming out in a few versions... a really expensive one with a flame wood finish on the head... and a cheaper normal model.. kinda like the esp kh-20 and kh-2

it does a few emulations of tone, an early 80s one, and a sort of black album one i think... so this amp is just a copy cat of the 80s modded 1959slp they used... and then the boogies they used in the 90s...

i would say get a reissue 1959slp and have it modded (cant remember exactly what they had done... id guess a basic gain mod or something).... or go for a boogie mk4, triaxis or recto.. something like that...

although i am of the opinion any good amp can be used to get a good tone.. aslong as you arnt trying something stupid like playing metal thru a vox ac30 without some kind of preamp boost.

but this randall is just copying other amps... pointless... its like the line 6 amp that they made for mustaine.. it was just an emulation of the marshall plexi again.

rant over..
