Guys,

I finished my Warmoth Strat build this weekend. Sounds great.

In my haste, I stripped the phillips threading from one of my Kluson 6-inline vintage tuner screws. I cannot screw it in or out. Its completely worn.

How the hell do I fix this f**k up?

(Despite all this it still stays in tune remarkably well, but I'd like to get it fixed...)

There are probably more sophisticated methods, but I'd saw a slot in the top of the screw with a small hacksaw, then take it out with a flat-headed screwdriver. It'll trash the screw, of course.

if its not screwed in completely a pair of small pliers can be used to unscrew it or slot it like suggested above

the answer is to always predrill the holes slightly smaller than the screws and use the correct sized screwdriver. I have broke enough screws in the past to always be willing to take the extra time to find the correct drill bit and screwdriver.. took me a while though

I find a Dremel (or similar) useful for that sorta thing, gives a very controlled cut.

I'm presuming that if it's stripped then it was fairly tight to screw out, therefore this might not work....

...Protect the tuner and axe - solder small bolt to top of screw - unbolt - hey presto.

I would advise that before tackling any of the methods mentioned - protect your axe. If your anything like me, you'll stab it with something sharp :roll:

Would that work? Well I'll tell you when I give it a shot.

I'll also give the Dremel a go... But I might practice with another screw first.

Some genius suggestions here I must admit.

I'm certainly not promising it'll work. I've only ever done it / seen it done on things a bit bigger than a machinehead screw (normally with a welder). Hopefully the solder will hold and won't snap, not that it'll really matter if it does (unless you stab the guitar). You can always take it off with the dremel.

Remember that solder drips, so protect the finish.
