I've played the L20H. Nice, especially with the matching cab that has Heritage G12Hs in it. I say nice as that's what I thought. Not amazing, not breathtaking, but nice.

The Sound City I would imagine to sound a bit cheap? I get the impression they're built to a budget.

yeah, thought thats what people would say....am unsure on amps at mo love my TT, but want another amp as well....upto 50w

small amp upto 50w...but prefer less, more fenderish sound so think 6v6, thinking bass, treble at least, master and vol anything else a bonus..in some respects missed out on the LR's

keep looking at Minimat's but they don't quite have enough tone control and have heard new ones are a bit muddy..keep thinking getting a champ and modding it

I tried the L20H for a few days, and didn't really like it. That doesn't mean that you wouldn't, of course. However, I can say that it is undoubtedly very UN-Fenderish.
If you're looking at 6V6's, then you will be quite limited in this country, especially in that price range. They seem to be more popular in the states. All that really comes to mind straight away is Matamp, as Dave has suggested.
What budget ? Would you really quite like a channel switcher , or not really bothered ?
how about a Spider Valve. I've not tried one, but had heard quite a lot of good reports about them (from people who should have known better !).
personally, I think the Peavey classic 30 is a great, flexible reasonably-priced combo, that is surprisingly good at low volume too.

A new speaker works wonders with the C30. Even better, get a head and play it through a nice cab. THe C30's are quite renowned for power tube rattle in the combos. +1 (well, i've tried the 5 watter). nice, but a bit expensive. at the price of the 20 watter you aren't far off a cornford, cornell, or many other true boutique amps...

I tried the Lionheart 4X10 combo last week, and it sounded pretty good. My main impression was it had quite a vintage vibe to it overall, but definitely more Brit than American. Decent cleans, and the overdrive sounds good at a tolerable volume level, which is always a bonus. I didn't really pay a massive amount of attention to it though TBH, because I was playing a £3,500 PRS Custom at the time (which I hasten to add I couldn't afford and didn't buy!)
