Herman Li's E-Gen18.

OH GOD, IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL!! I don't *quite* see the point in the grip, it's way more customised than I thought it would be - custom-designed pickups, deeper horn for access, newly designed bridge... but fuuuuuck, fitness deserving of such a player.

AND

Sam Totman's STM1.

I'm a sucker for Iceman-shapes and this is a fitting modernisation to a classic shape, I like how they've used the "proper" Ibanez headstock instead of the old one though but I'm kinda amazed it's using the Edge III bridge instead of the new one designed for Herman (way more stable, apparently) or the original Edge like on the Vai/Satch sig models.

Niiice I'd love an S in the future. The gold hardware looks a little tacky though, cosmo black would have been better imo. Notice the 24frets too there's a few 24 fret S series guitars out this year.

I'm rather excited to see that they are reissueing (properly) the AR300 too! :o I wonder how much that'll cost.

Are those top few frets scalloped on the S?

Yup, "lightly" scalloped from frets 21-24.

The first one doesn't do anything for me but at least it doesn't have a Heineken case handle in the body.

The Iceman looks pretyy cool.

Apparently, the grip on the upper horn is "Herman's essential feature for his performance on stage" but I can't for the life of me imagine how you'd use that... anyone?!  :?

I'd guess it's to grab the guitar by the horn and hold it up to do some segato playing - not unlike Vi and his monkey grip
or to lift up the guitar when he has got his hair caught in the strings

I don't know who would buy these. Dragonforce is passé, and even if they are good guitars, no one would admit to play a Herman Li signature.

To be fair to Herman, he hasn't put his name ANYWHERE on the guitar. I really dislike Dragonforce's music, but looking at it objectively, the E-Gen is a damn nice guitar.

Herman's a guitar purist too so you can bet your back teeth it's a nice feel and plays really well.

You mean the one you can get now for about £380, or are they re-issuing it with '80s specs like the two mini-switches and proper chunky hardware?

I'm not really an Ibanez fan, but I'd be interested in an '80s-style AR300.  Or even better, Rocket Roll.

The current AR300 is just boring, the original was way better with the 15-odd possible pickup combinations.
