Heres my mutant SG (of sorts)

Not a Gibson maple neck & fingerboard, and the body is possibly maple. The dumb sticker on the scratchplate is to cover a previosu owners band name.

It plays like a dream

I love the maple fretboard on that, it works really well :D

Hmmm

Your urgency made me pause and check, as I know very little about SG's.

The guitar isn't a Standard - my bad. It's a Special Faded (worn brown).

It still looked and played great though and had enough dings to give it some mojo. Knowing the dealer I could certainly get him down to £350 ish.

The modern day Gibsons (especially lower end) can be a bit dodgey in terms of quality, but if you find a good one they are great guitars to have.
When i played a worn brown SG at Music Live i loved it, £350 would be a good price for it, but i don't think i'd pay £400.

Sorry about the naff pics:

Gordon Smith SG-1 on the left with an MQ.  On the right is my main gigging axe - a Korean 'Custom Shop' Epiphone '65 reissue with Riff Raffs (plus other upgrades):

The Epi again, plus my bone stock Gibson '61 with Vibrola:

Finally my Japanese Tokai USGP90 SG Special:

That is really mean! Me, having been an LP guy for more than a decade turning into a Tele lover, amstarting a GAS crisis over a SG with a single P90. And someone has the good idea to start a SG appreciation thread with pics, including exactly the model I am craving for... Actually, yours is with a bucker, so it is not as bad as it looked at first :)

ButI don't understand this. I honestly never gave a damn about SGs before i saw Eddie Vedder on live show with one. Grrrrr!!!

Really nice guitars folks!
'17 PRS SE Custom 24 - stock
'07 Fender MIA Tele - The Boss set
'96 Gibson LP studio - MQn, The Mule b
'95 Epi LP classic - MQs

I would give up sex for 5 years for that guitar.
