D-sonic vs Painkiller??
« on: January 27, 2008, 09:32:24 PM »
Hey guys I have a D-sonic in my prs guitar. I like it alright, but want something more organic, a little warmer, and tighter/punchier!!! I play through a bogner ubershall and my style is Progressive rock!
Chek out my sound and playing style -  www.myspace.com/legendreborn2      this is my band....

Also, does the painkiller have more ouput??? D-sonic  dc risistance = 11.96    ouput=390

The painkiller's quite a bit more powerfull than that.

Its also a lot tighter, middier, brighter and punchier than the stuff on your myspace.

I've never played the D-Sonic so I cant say how it compares really. I'm just going off whats on your myspace and 'typical' PK sound (I have some and have played them through several amps, though not an uberschall)

Edit: the power thing: the DC is a rough indicator, the mV is meaningless for comparison, BK doesnt give them and they're near impossible to standardise a measurement that everyone can use anayway, and the PK is about 16k with an oversized ceramic magnet in it. WIth its extra mid push it drives amps nearly as hard as a warpig (so its a bit less hot than an X2N or EMG81, basically)

well... i can't compare with a d-sonic cause i never played it, but it has more output than a dimarzio super distortion (425 mv)
it's on duncan distortion ballpark, and has a bit less output than a gibson 500t (500t is one of the strongest passive pickups ever)
but these last two pickups i mentioned have a ton of mud
the prs tremonti treble is probably in the same league
the painkiller is a lot clearer
