New Matamps?
« on: January 30, 2008, 06:18:27 PM »
I notice that some of the Matamp range has been dropped (LX, Chino, Little Rock). There was some indication that new models were going to be introduced this year including a bass amp. Anybody got any info on new models? As Dave Green, their chief designer, has left them either these new models were in the pipeline or presumably Jeff is designing them.

New ones from Jeff I believe.

I've heard a 200w bass amp is in the works, with KT-88s....

Wow, Dave has left - suppose commuting from Sheffield to Meltham every day has got to take it's toll.

Dave might have been the chief engineer, but don't underestimate Jeff's engineering knowledge - I've seen him at work, really knows his onions.

I wonder if the 200w bass amp is the same as the one that had out around 8 years back - my bass player used to own one.  It was a BEAST and literally took two people to carry it otherwise you'd be risking a hernia.

Errk!  :?  :!:

For those that don't know, I now build amps at Matamp. As well as still doing the odd Martamp, mainly clones that Matamp don't do.

The Chino is still current, but the XV, LX and Little Rock have gone, as there was too much overlap between only slightly different models. We can still cover most of what was in those amps anyway.

Jeff and I are working on the Bass amp and a couple of other projects as and when time permits, but we do have a very full order book at the moment. There are tweaks to the existing models in the pipeline too.
The bass amp will definitely be a two man lift. It will also be useable as a guitar amp!
No further details on new models yet....

You can't fault Matamp cabs.  Who do you think built the 2x12 in my avatar, and the 4x12 I have on order  ;)

Last time I was over there, Jeff was working on the circuit for the bass amp. Top bloke with a lot of knowledge about amps, and a wicked sense of humour. ;)
