Thanks man, this is done with Edwards > Vovox 5m > Budda > Reel Echo and mic'ed with a Sennheiser 609 and a SM57 both on the same speaker (Budda Phat 12")

All is really low volume, almost too low to get enough signal on those mics.

As long as you scoop out some of the rich mids when upping the gain it's fine, but from clips I heard (especially _tom_s) i would say that the Mule is coping better with higher gains. I think BDs are richer and more harmonics which is great on medium/high gain, whereas Mules or also VHIIs are cleaner on their own and can therefore take more dirt from the amp.

Just listened back to the single tracks and have to say it's incredible how the two mics sound different but complement each other perfectly and add up to a great mix when panned.

Have to play with one mic taking the back of the combo and one frontal up close ...

Am just coming from a wanking session, turned up the gain on the Budda and dialed in some serious Echo to have fun on some Gary Moore classics.

First up was the Axis with stock DiMarzios, rather bright, cutting like a hot knife through butter, then I used the Edwards on the same Gain setting: it was still nice but almost a bit too smooth, too creamy, I had the feeling it needs more volume to cope with the Axis, but instead I dialed back the gain on the amp by around 20% and - bang - there was TONE.

So in fact the BDs do sound more expressive and complex on a bit lower gain, whereas on higher gain you'd want one with tighter mids and lows.
