One for the NYC guys? Guitar shopping question...
« on: February 08, 2008, 06:07:22 PM »
I'm hoping someone can help me out please?  This is the score...

My mother-in-law is travelling to the US in a couple of months and will be stopping off in New York just before she flies home.  I've spoken to her about bringing a guitar back on the plane for me, and she's OK with that if I can make it easy for her.  Great stuff  :)

I'm hoping I can source a Gibson Custom Shop Historic SG (in cherry red with a Maestro vibrola ;)) that she can just wander into a shop and pick up.  She knows nothing about guitars so I'd need the dealer to pick me out a good one and possibly take my money just before she collects it.

Do any of you NYC guys know a really good Gibson Custom Shop dealer in a convenient city centre location????

Any help will be much appreciated  :drink:

Not trying to inflict GAS or anything...

But I thought you were rather interested in a mahogany topped LP, and the only place they are is with the custom shop, why are you going for another SG?

Sorry its nothing useful, and good luck with your purchase though :)

Good spots Hunter - great geetars!

Yes, I do want a 'hog topped LP Will, but I'm not paying the price of a '57 Gibson reissue.  Crazy cash!

I love SGs, and I really want to try a Historic.  If I don't like it, or I don't think it's worth the cash, I'll eBay it  ;)
