After deciding a few weeks ago that the Mules were not exactly what I was looking for (to the dismay of some of the forum members :)), I returned them and on Tim's good advice got a Stormy Monday/Riff Raff combo. I was looking for a little more in the bridge and a little less in the neck basically. The Mules were outstanding sounding PAF's but not quite what I needed. So.......
My new combo arrived today and they are incredible!! The Stormy Monday is exactly what I hoped it would be. So clean and chimey, just beautiful. Excellent for blues applications. And, the lows are less present than wth the Mules but yet very tight and punchy.
The Riff Raff is a beauty!! Great clean tone and you can really nail those classic rock tones. A bit hotter and a bit more bite than the Mule which was exactly what I wanted.
What was most exciting for me is the tone I get out of the middle position of the toggle switch. The two pickups really compliment each other and I get a great compromise on that setting.
So, big thumbs up to Tim for his patience. I am glad I made the decision I did and his advice really paid off!!
