You should pop down to GE, they have that Tokai (as above posted) PRS style guitar. You can evaluate stuff better than me, lol.
haha, i doubt it... was it MIJ? (aqctually, looking at the pic you posted later, it looks like MIK) I've tried a bunch of their tokais, just not that one... :)
I must admit to holding a bit of a grudge against Eggle, but I must stress I don't own one, I'm sure they're great guitars.
It's just that back in the '90s (the Andrew Selby years) when they were selling direct to the public, despite being British made and having no import costs or distributor/dealer markup, they were still pretty bloody expensive. I felt I ought to be able to afford one as a PRS alternative, but I couldn't!
As I say, I'm not criticising the quality of the guitars - I just think if they'd been more competitively priced the company might not have struggled the way it did. It seemed to be forever changing ownership - there was the joint venture with Gary Levinson/Blade, then there was a period where Phil Norsworthy was in charge of production. And wasn't former Uriah Heep singer Pete Goalby a director at one point?
I was wondering, does the quality of Eggles vary a lot depending on which phase of the company's history they were built?
i've heard the earlier ones are meant to be better, but that's 100% hearsay.
Mine, i think, is a later one, judging from the serial number etc. it has some cosmetic imperfections, but it's still a seriously nice guitar for what I paid for it. they'd put you off if you'd paid full RRP, no doubt, but at a decent price, it's not really anything to worry about.
