Oh no, I was weak again, but 378 GBP for a second hand Marshall 2266 head from Coda Music was just too good to be true so I had to pull the trigger!

This amp is supposed to be kickin ass, and as I got it on 50%of the RRP in Thomann and the likes, it's gonna fly off my ebay in the unlikely case I wouldn't like it - I know I know, I'm just justifying my insane behaviour of ampcollectivism.

That's cheap - good score!

I'm liking the look of the Blackstar amps at the moment - they seem really good and very well priced:

They do indeed look very nice. The 30 watt combo recently got the gold award in Guitarist. I'm now trying to think of a reason why I don't need one and I haven't thought of any so far.
I think I hate being indecisive.

I like the look of the 15 Watt Blackstar combo - nice and simple.  But happily I don't really suffer from amp GAS, only the guitar strain of the condition.

Nice amp. Played one the other week when trying a PRS. The combination was very good.

when i was enquiring about the blackstar duel pedal vs the mi audio crunch box from a shop in southampton the owner said the blackstar was worth the extra as its so good.

He also said his mate did the Guitarist mag review on the amps and he told me that the blackstar amps were one of the best in the world for what they do and to look out for them.

They are reviewed in last months Guitarist Mag. Its a good read.

It did get the gold award and they said in the mag the 30W amp is prob the best amp in the world for that range of sounds. The 30W was recommended over the 15W as it had more features and worth pushing the boat out.

I think they switch down to lower watt settings like 30W to 10W and 15w to 5W?

Anyway.. they are made in china, so somewhere cheap (hence why they are more reasonable then alot of boutique amps) but they are hand made and to the same if not higher then that of any boutique amp in the world (Guitarist's Mag opinion). They were designed by the guys who worked at Marshall who made some decent marshall amps and left to form Blackstar.

Unfortunately for such a raving review they dont do many clips on the cd in the mag and i've not heard and other clips yet.

Online video is an awful invention.

It was some youtube vids and a video review ob www.guitarplayertv.com that converted me to having to have one of those Vintage Modern wonder thingys.

Nice buy!

So what is a 2266's model name? JCM? Or does it not have one? Marshalls are confusing.

The 100w Blackstar Artisan is in the new Guitarist for this month.  Great review and it sounds superb.

The 2266 is the Vintage Modern 50w I think?

Yep, it's the 50W Vintage Modern head, 2xKT66, switchable digital reverb, serial loop with switchable levels, 1 channel with remote addable gain stage and switchable mid boost.

From what I can hear it sounds purely awesome, organic, 70-80s rock heaven.

I really fancy the Series One amps. At first I wanted to mount the 100W version but then saw the 200W one and nearly emptied my bowels!! That power reduction system sounds amazing!

Tried the 30w combo recently - absolute killer tone with a Rebel Yell equiped LP and only just pipped to the post (in my opinion) by 65 amps. 30w combo is about £1,100 compared to about double that for the 65 amp.
