i want another steinberger badly, very close to the point of getting the necessary parts and having a custom one done.

they're in black ;) and definately not as good quality. the synapse has proper active EMGs and a carbon composite neck, plus the synapse has a fixed bridge, which i like.

i though imagine the hohner would be similar quality to my existing 'spirit by steinberger' which isn't bad at all! i tried a hohner gt3 many years ago, but i had not much idea about guitars then. i remember liking the design.

i'm tempted to risk p1ssing 300 quid up the wall. that makes no sense. i need to stop GAS.

Just out of curiosity, what is so great about steinbergers? I mean i know they don't have any conventional tuning pegs, and have tuning attenuators instead.  Many are baritone scale.  But they don't look all that great, more like an ugly club like weapon that barbarians are wont to wield...

well, i think they look fantastic ;) especially the V shaped model. and they fit in a suitcase. its a great engineering achievement, theres many innovations. for example, use of graphite in guitar construction must have been a very brave move in the 1980s. i'm keen on the tremolos as well - alot easier than a floyd.

my MIK steinberger is probably my most played guitar, it makes my life so much easier - i'd literally be lost without it. i'd like a 'real' one, with some of the more advanced features in white and a fixed bridge. i think it would be a great place to put a set of painkillers too.

Looks gorgeous and is only £250 new - In theory all it needs is new pickups?

EDIT: WAIT WAIT WAIT?! How do you hang them up?! :O

Or would it have to take the place of my Ibanez on the floorstand :P

yes they are good - made in the korea epiphone factory - but i think the quality is a little bit nicer. the stock EMG Select pickups are *awful* though - the worst pickups I ever used. you might want to change the pots too.

i think the tremolo is actually rather good. you might want to consider getting an adapter to use normal strings, rather than double ball ones. they come up on ebay quite often.

i dont use a stand, but then mine has a strap button on each corner. i guess you'll have to use a floor stand.
