Look what the postman brought me today, a nice Laney Pro-Tube 30 Watt combo :D

For those who don't know about Laney Pro-Tube's it's basically JCM 800 copy, and they rule!

I own an old (ie, Hoshino USA) Pro-Tube 30.

It's a single-channel 6V6 30W amp in push-pull pentode configuration. It has pull pots for boosts, and fully boosted with an OD or treble booster can create some really singing metal tones. It also has an fx loop as well as hi and lo sensitivity inputs.

Unfortunately, even thru a 4x12 30W isn't nearly enough for me to compete with my drummer. PDT_008

Those are some awesome videos!
And yeah it's going to be a loud weekend haha. Especially if i hook it up to the 2 Classic Lead 80 Celestions in my Laney VC50 combo

TO knows where it's at, these are some seriously good amps.
My combo also has the push-pull pots for boosting that certain eq which makes it very versatile. It has the fx loop as well as hi and lo sensitivity inputs too. It has reverb but the reverb knob doesn't work (i knew that before i bought it though).
And i boost it with my Monte Allums modded SD-1 so i'm getting some great tones with this amp.

Haha TO, your band must be seriously loud!

I nearly had a 30 watter head (same as TO's i think) but SOMEONE outbid me by £2, my max bid was £120 :(

I hear the 30 50 and 100 watter pro tube's are quite different, then theres the AOR series... any idea which one vinnie is using there on the video? 'cause that tone is excellent :)

If i could've gotten that out of the pro-tube 30... feck!

Only in the output valves and the output trannie, iirc.

The 30W is 2x 6V6
The 50W and 100W are EL34

I'm 99% certain he was using a 50W Pro-Tube head in the early Shrapnel years.

I had 1 of the 100w AOR Pro Tube Lead heads a few years ago. I got it for a good price as it'd been restored after the output transformer blew up.

I found it to be a great sounding amp, but it took me absolutely ages to tweak it to where I wanted it.

I eventually sold it because it more or less gave me the same sound as my JCM800 and I didn't need both.

They are :D

I did some Tech work for TO at a gig a few years ago and Sal is a monster of a drummer. I was really surprised when I saw/heard him play cos he's quite a small guy from what I remember.

Plus, Ben more or less insists on ATLEAST 1 4x12 cab at a gig, so it takes a hell of a drummer to compete with how loud he plays.

What else would you expect from a guy who's home practise rig is a Splawn 100w head and 2 4x12s :D

They are - you need ear plugs when you go to see them.  Sal hits the drums really hard!

Hey Jo, I've got the same amp back in the UK, desperately in need of retubing though.
They are decent amps, accutronics reverb and I think a G12t-75. The chipboard cab is very heavy though.
