Do a quick search on this site and you'll see quite a few Warmoth projects - most people seem to be pretty impressed by the results.

they are very good quality parts, but the finished guitar will depend on the skill of the person putting it together so the quality of guitars finished from warmoth parts will vary... having said that they do make it very easy

The quality of the parts I bought was excellent - definitely worth investigating while the pound relatively strong against the dollar (assuming you're in the UK).

As Wez points out, the end result is very much dependent on the skill of the person putting the parts together. My Soloist (just about viewable in my avatar) was built for me by my local guitar builder/repairer, so it's fantastic. If I'd done it myself, it would probably not be quite so good.

I have put together at least 10 guitars from Warmoth parts, and in the process tried most of the neck shapes and a lot of different woods.  I have been happy with all of them and have had no problems.  They are very consistent and you will get a quality product.

I have had to do a little clean up of the fret ends a couple of times, but I  have a pretty full set of luthiers tools so it wasn't a problem for me.

Pretty much agree with the others' comments - very good quality parts, that should help you get a very good quality guitar.

On the subject of fret ends, Warmoth don't dress the frets (IIRC they are quite clear about this in an FAQ on their website), so a professional fret dress (esp rounding off of the ends) could be an improvement - however, the fret installation is so good that many people will be happy with the neck as it comes.

FWIW, I've built 3 of them.  Until then I'd not done anything more technical than change strings & adjust intonation so I was a total novice!

The first one, an alder strat, went OK, I was very careful & only had one major hitch.

The second one, a korina strat, took just 4 hours, went together like a dream & is still one of my favourite guitars.

The third one was a disaster (totally my fault ), I ended up getting Feline to rescue me.  It became a nice guitar in the end though... :)

Antag - How does that Korina strat sound?  Is it White or Black?  A Nice warm tone?  Almost all of their showcase korina bodies have something or another written about the tone of the wood...  Is it is good as they say it is?

Judging by the grain I'd say it's black Korina (it was an already-finished showcase body).  The tone is very full, warm & rounded.  It's very bassy, quite un-strat-like, & with the HD bridge, every note sounds huge.

Whether that means "good" is a matter of taste.  If you like bright, "zingy" sounding guitars then stick to alder or swamp ash, but as I said earlier it's one of my favourite guitars & I love it... :)

FWIW, the specs:
Korina body, Maple neck w/Ebony fretboard ("Wolfgang" profile)
Holy Diver/Irish Tour HSS set, 1 vol, 5-way switch.
Wilkinson trem, LSR Roller nut, schaller locking tuners

If it's any help, I used it for some of this clip (one of the first I ever posted here).  Hopefully you can hear the difference between the HD bridge in the LP & in the Korina strat.

Ok... so the more I stare at warmoth, the more I want one.  I've also wanted to try to put one together myself.  I'm thinking I should be able to do it.  Maybe something simple, like a telecaster.  No trem.  Since they predrill all of the holes for everything for you, they'll install the frets and the nut, is it just a matter of putting it together?  As long as everything lines up it should be good right?  It seems easy, is it really?

I have built lots of Warmoth guitars and they are all easy to do.  I have also put Warmoth necks on other bodies.  There stuff is very good and I would recomend them to anyone.  If you buy a straight guitar it is just a case of bolting it together (though if you have no experience then I would have them fit the nut for you).  You might have to tidy the fret ends up a bit but that can be done with a small file.  Other than that, sometimes you need to shim the neck (though with a Warmoth body and neck you should be fine).

I don't have much experience with them, but te neck I ordered from them arrived on on friday, it a unfinished bublinga neck with ebony boardn warmoth pro construction. As far as I can tell till I get it on the guitar I'm building it looks perfect. The frets look very neat and well set, run your finger ofve the inlays and you can't feel the edges and the back of the next is unbeliverably smooth, the only tiny imperfection on was one vey small glue drop on the board which scaped off without leaving a mark.

The exchange rate to UK is not quite as good as it was but still pretty good, so this at 350 inc shipping and graphtech nut fitted was a bargin.

I also found when I phoned them up to order really nice and helpful.
