Have a look at this Tele !!!

this is a Tele FAT from 1993. Made in the USA.

Here you've got some pics.  Its only owner sent the guitar to a good friend of mine for a refinish.
At first it looked like a nice lump of wood.

Looking more carefully we find a rather annoying surprise: Look at how many pieces of wood FEnder used to build the body!!!!  :? shocking eh?!?

not to mention the veneer front and back.. i am not shocked at all, and if you like the sound of the guitar i wouldnt worry about it either.  not the best way to do it but it doesnt automatically make it a bad guitar

I knew they were doing the multi-piece veneered bodies in the late '90s, but I'm a bit surprised to see that as early as '93.

I think they reverted to 2- or 3-piece bodies around 1999/2000, but it's hard to know what's lurking under that thick poly finish.

a big company being gippy? whatever next?

I mean, i agree with wez. i'd be a bit cheesed off at the penny-pinching though, even if it didn't affect the tone.

The point is that it's made of a shocking number of pieces.

I did the same thing to a cheapy Phoenix telecaster, it took me bloody months to sand the through the poly; yet when i got through - it was one piece! Made in the same factory as most of the cheapish fenders too I think.

Saying that I own a epiphone les paul with a translucent amber finish - it looks great and plays pretty well (sounds great with the cold sweats in).  But you can actually see through the finish thats its made of a least 5 different pieces of wood glued together.
