Aged Apache set
« on: August 26, 2005, 02:02:13 AM »
I just got the most amazing set of pickups and scratchplate for my strat.  The aging is phonemenal  :P   These look like they were around since the 50's.

I have fitted them and they also sound incredible.  Sorry Tim but they blow the Irish Tours away!  I can see why everyone loves these pickups on a strat.

I hope they didn't use urine to age those parts, and if they did they washed em off reeeeeal good!! ;) LOL

Looks amazing; your guitar collection makes me sick.  PDT_009

The ageing was very kindly done for me by B3 who is an expert..........shame the close up shot wasn't that good because it really is a work of art.

It's not urine TO   but I'm sworn to secrecy as to how it is done........all that matters is the end result is awesome.

Apaches vs Irish Tour, tow very different beasts and both do VERY different tones.I must admit the Apache is my fav but we have legions of devoted IT users too.I'd hate to say one was better than the other, it really depends where you're coming from!

Still, glad you like 'em Phil :D

I'll do a couple of shots now they are on the guitar.  The battery was going in the camera (either that or my hand was shaking in excitement  ).

The aging is the best I ever saw.  The guitar is a 57 strat, but when I got it it had SD & DiM pickups on.  These look perfect for it.

Looks great! Are you gonna age the body as well? A bundle of keys on a key chain and some cold liquid nitro would do the trick.

You can't see in the picture but all the lacquer is cracked all over the body.  It is a 48 year old guitar!  The cracks are real from age  :D

Not this time, B3 has some quite clever and involved processes, some of which actually replicate reall aging only at a very accelerated rate.

There are alot of people out there in the 'relicing' game but ot all are that good............B3 is a master :D

Sounds perfect for my 1960's reissue and Apaches are sublime- they just get better Phil- you wont want anything else in your Strat beleive me. I love the way they just come alive in terms of response. My tele is next in the queue but the Strat will follow thereafter. I was considering another set (Slowhands maybe) but I just love the Apaches and will stick with them. The Strat has Fender aged parts on it ( 'tis my sig pic) so a set of aged Apaches will do nicely methinks.
Send three and fourpence we're going to a dance
BKP's: Apache, Country Boy, Slowhands.
