Just came back from a week hollidays.

These go for 1000 euro and over, 1500 is asking for a -nothnx- if you ask me, 1250 would be worth considering IMO.

Tricky bit with these is that you really need to plug into it and see if you like it, most bad samples have hit the junkpile long ago, but the sound often has such a distinct signature not all of these will be worthwhile IMVHO.

This is the fun part to me at least i should add, i really get a kick out of trying old stuff and see if it speaks to me. Ive played one like these a few years ago, that sample was a tad too dark sounding for my taste but had a very full sounding sustain begging for one of those extended Hendrix solo's. Might just hit the spot for you, so if its not too far away just check it out i'd say.

GL, Henk

Hmmm, and how are JMP MK 2s?

Do those produce similar tones?

God I need to learn more about these ole amps ...

I personally think sample variation in old Marshall amps makes up for more difference in sound then the actual amp types, quite frustrating actually. So yes, if you ask me they are comparable.

Overall i think the MKII's have more of a rock tone(KT66!?), more raw, less compressed. Many guitarists i know prefer an MKII over a SL, maybe the cleans arent as nice, but the MKII driven tone is VERY hard to beat IMO.

Offcourse i have a nice read for you:

I live in the east of Holland. There are only three shops around here worth visiting IMO.

http://www.theamericanguitarstore.com/

http://www.thefellowshipofacoustics.com/inventory.asp?MerkID=2

http://www.double-d.nl/

These have proven to have been worthwile checking out regularly at least. The TAGS shop is run by a really great guy called Kay, they have a really sweet Gibson Page relic too  :P
