(tactful tone) some might say the same about Ripper Owens at times :)

This is good news! Not Yngwie's usual choice for a singer. I really wish he'd have kept Derek Sherinian on keys though. It would have been a chance to see three great rockers on the same stage.

i wonder how long he'll last.

applying for a singer position for yngwie, is the same as applying for a drummer in spinal tap

I think most of Yng's stage clothes have been right on the verge of that, though. He does seem awfully fond of pies for a man with such a penchant for leather keks.

There was an Ozzy tribute album called Bats Head Soup that came out a few years back, and these two did Mr Crowley together.

It's pretty good.  But Yngwie plays too much...

(not wanting to state the obvious or anything...)

Dweezil Zappa does Goodby To Romance, which is pretty cool.

Mark.

seriously, I love to shred, and I love to hear it too...

But sometimes Yngwie just keeps on going when every ounce of taste should be yelling "now SHUT THE F*CK UP!!!"

It was a joke. Like, "if you didn't mean to state the obvious, what DID you mean to?" That Yngwie overplays is a commonly known fact, which I'm sure was your point too.

..yeah, I kinda spotted that.

Actually, I have heard the man play really tastfully, usually when he has his foot on a wah and is "doing a Hendrix".  When Yngwie plays the blues he sounds awesome.

I think this will be interesting, and would love to see it.  Yngwie has always been a hero of mine, but I do agree, last time I saw him I lost a little respect for him.  He had porked himself out a bit, and he was quite sloppy (As far as playing goes).  He was too concerned with kicking picks and flinging his guitar around behind him and catching it again.  It was sort of...sad.  Also, I've never been a fan of any of Yngwie's songs for the lyrics/vocals... But, none the less, he is still an excellent player, and I've always loved the Ripper's vocals...   So I would love to see them live.
