Apache Help needed
« on: February 27, 2008, 11:23:28 PM »
Hello all. I got my set of Apaches today and got all excited. In my excitement I reckon I have done something wrong as I get a loud humming noise when plugging the guitar into the amp. I have checked my solder points and they all look good.

This might seem a stupid question but can someone confirm which coloured wires go onto which point?   There are two black wires connected to one of the tone pots and there is one white wire.

Any help would be appreciated - I know I'm gonna love these pickups as even with the humming from the amp they sound significantly better than the stock pickups.

Cheers!
I think I hate being indecisive.

1. Does the humming stop when you turn down the volume?

2. Does it stop when you touch the strings?

Have you checked it is properly grounded to the tremolo claw at the back?

not to be a spoilsport, but shouldn't this go in tech?

I've sorted it now. I had the two wires going to the jack plug the wrong way round

I can confirm that Apaches are soooo much better than stock US pickups.

Ian what is that gorgeous strat you have in your avatar?  It looks so raw and crusty and thus awesome!  Can we get a bigger picture (sorry this is off topic).
